Betty Ruth Booth “DeGrace” “DiGraci”

Betty Ruth Booth “DeGrace” “DiGraci” peacefully entered into rest, in her home, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 after courageously fighting brain cancer. She will be eternally and dearly missed by her loving daughter, Angelique, and beloved family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, and beloved mother of Angelique. Betty’s legacy translates into how every single person she encountered, she impacted, from strangers to family and friends. She was the kindest, sweetest, most caring and generous human being God placed on this earth. She had a talent for lighting up a room everywhere she went always making people feel loved and important. At her wishes, her body will be donated to cancer research at NBDP to benefit others with cancer and in honor of Dr. Al-Kasspooles. Her beautiful smile, her laughter, her innate ability to love others, her sense of humor, wisdom, and passion for life will be a void on this earth. The Celebration of her life will be held from Noon-2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Antioch Bible Babtist Church, 800 NE 72nd Street, Gladstone, MO 64118. I never knew her, but my heart totally aches for you, Angelique. I have loved reading about her, and I know in all the days and years ahead you will have memories spring to you mind constantly. How blessed you have been to have her as your mother.

A few times in your life you meet a special friend. One that is so much a part of you that you become family. Betty was one of those to us. We went for long periods of not seeing one another but our paths always crossed at the best and most needed times. For her last 2 1/2 years on this earth she fought a battle and endured more than I believe most of us will in our lives. She was one of the bravest women I have known! I was gifted during that struggle with her sweet and honest thoughts and words. I was also gifted to have had a lot of time to talk with her most precious daughter, whom I am also proud to call family. I was blessed to hear her say that she was ready to meet Our Lord, she had very little and yet she smiled with gratitude and said not to be sad. She had many hours to share these things and so much more with Angelique as she was a constant in her life, caring for her every day until just hours before her passing. What a gift to share between a mother and daughter! She will be missed in such a big way but looking down on all with that beautiful smile we will picture forever. I pray that beautiful memories sustain you Angie in your days ahead.

I do not remember a time that Betty Ruth didn’t offer to help my family with whatever she could or an instance where she wasn’t speaking joyfully or positively about the people that surrounded her in her every day life. We were truly blessed to have a person of that caliber in our life. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

I will never forget her talking the police out of giving me a ticket when we were hauling ass to a wedding northbound on I-29 somewhere between St. Jo & Omaha. That was pretty cool!
