Carol went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025.
She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 19th, 1936 to Ralph and Marguerite Ramsey. Carol was raised in a God-fearing home along with her two sisters in Kansas City, Missouri.
Carol graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1954. She then went to Baker University for one year. After one year of college, she married the love of her life, John “Toby” Bishop. They were married on September 7th, 1956.
Carol and Toby had three children: John, Debbie, and Lisa. Carol spent most of her children’s childhoods being a homemaker. One of the greatest joys in Carol’s life was being a wife and a mother. Later in life, Carol worked at St. Luke’s on the Plaza in Medicare accounting. She retired in May of 2013. Carol and Toby were married for 63 years before Toby went home to be with the Lord.
One of the things that Carol loved most in this world, besides her family, was singing in the choir at Connection Point Church. She spent decades worshipping the Lord alongside her choir family where she made many life-long friends in that group.
Carol was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and much much more. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Marguerite Ramsey, her sister Marsha Blackford, her husband Toby Bishop, her brother-in-law Bob Lister, her brother-in-law Nicky Blackford, her daughter-in-law Beth Bishop, and her nephew Steve Lister.
Carol is survived by her sister Linda Lister, her children: John Bishop, Debbie (Ron) Gipfert, and Lisa (John) Stajcar, her grandchildren: Rachel (Robert) Shull, Brett (Lizzy) Bishop, Zachary (Stephanie) Gipfert, Megan Gipfert, Jared (Hanna) Gipfert, Justin Stajcar, Katie Stajcar, and many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and many others who loved her dearly.
Carol’s visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9th at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Graveside at 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Cemetery.
We so loved Carol in our Connection Point Church Choir. She was so faithful and always a joy to talk with. I’m thankful she is now at Home in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My thoughts and prayers are with her family in this Season of grieving.
Carol loved singing in our Celebration Choir and was a member for many, many years. She served faithfully and had a beautiful soprano voice. She was dearly loved by everyone who knew her! She was a lovely lady inside and outside! We will miss her dearly here on earth. However, we rejoice that she is in no more pain and is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
