Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
“It is with the greatest sorrow that I must say my beautiful and loving wife, Carolyn Elizabeth Quinn Bernhardy, has lost her valiant fight against cancer. She passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family, October 4, 2017. Rest in peace, my Angel. Love you always.” – Jason Bernhardy
When Carolyn met and fell in love with her Jason, she couldn’t believe her luck. He gave his love to her as much as she to him. They were married September 22, 2012. Of course their son, Keegan, was the best gift of the love that they shared together. He stood by her through all her pain and suffering, unwavering in his concern and care. Truly an incredible man, full of strength and love.
Carolyn was our strong, determined & loving “Mother Bear”. Many obstacles were thrown in her way in her short time with us, but she just kept going and worked through it all. Her biggest goal was to be the best mom ever to Keegan; her biggest dream was to be a teacher. She was determined, no matter how long it took, and finally got her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She began teaching in the fall of 2016 at Nativity of Mary School in Independence, MO. She had the best 5th grade class ever! And of course she fit right in and found another wonderful family to love and share her gifts and talents with. They adored her, and she adored them.
She was a “Mother Bear” to all, but especially her four brothers, and of course Keegan. He entered her world on October 11, 2011. She lived for that little boy. Nothing was too good for him! But she gave him the most important gifts: time, forts, stories, gardens, flowers, leaves, wind, and listening & love never ending. She was a master of the special little things that are so precious to us all.
Carolyn was born October 18, 1979. She attended St. Regis Grade School, and graduated from Archbishop O’Hara High School in 1998. She leaves behind her loving husband, Jason Bernhardy, and their son, Keegan; her parents, John & Dorothy Quinn; brother John Quinn, his wife Bridget, and their children, May & Edwin; brother Tim Quinn, his wife Rebekah, and their children, Taylor & Kobe; sister Jeanne Quinn; brother Joe Quinn; brother Jim Quinn; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles & cousins. In Heaven, she is in the loving arms of her grandparents, John & Mildred Kleine and John & Ann Quinn, Uncle Edwin Aholt, dear cousins Marcus Foster and John Kleine, and beloved friend Lauren Tritt.
Visitation will be at Heartland Funeral Home, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO, on Monday, Oct. 9, from 6 – 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. John Francis Regis Church, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, MO, with the Rosary at 10 AM, followed by Mass at 10:30.
An educational trust is being set up for Keegan. For more information, please contact David Redlich at 913-486-1717.
