Cathey Gayle Caruthers Clark, age 45, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Ogliodendroglioma (she called it “OgreDragon”) and Glioblastoma Mulitiforme, both brain cancers, on Friday, August 3, 2018, at The Villa on Blue Ridge, in Columbia. Cathey was born June 11, 1973, in Columbia, Mo., to Earl F. Caruthers and Mariea Hall Caruthers. She was a 1991 graduate of Hickman High School where she was active in 4-H, girl’s basketball coach’s assistant, and visited Russia for her senior trip. She graduated Stephens College in 1995, where she double majored in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, and spent a semester abroad studying in Sydney, Australia.
Cathey married Orville F. Clark, Jr. from Houston, Texas on May 30, 1998. She worked as a nanny, and then as a call center operator at MidwayUSA, where she received multiple honors for her quality customer service. Cathey was dedicated to her many pets and supported Columbia Second Chance by organizing their holiday pet picture fund raisers for 18 years. She was a member of the Columbia Weavers and Spinners Guild and demonstrated spinning techniques to children annually at the fall Boone County Heritage Festival for 15 years.
She is survived by her husband, Orville; her parents, Earl and Mariea; her brother, Ben and his wife Jodi; two brothers-in-law; several aunts and uncles; nephews and nieces: Tanner Caruthers, Reece Caruthers, Elizabeth Peterson, Jason Cox, Michelle Cox, Brandon Cox, and Lisa Fellwock; and numerous cousins and great-nephews and great-nieces.
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Cathey are invited to Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church, 2600 N Locust Grove Church Rd., in Columbia, Mo., with visitation at 10:00am and services at 11:30am, on Saturday, August 11, 2018, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Head for the Cure (headforthecure.org), Columbia Second Chance (columbia2ndchance.org), and 4-H (http://extension.missouri.
So beautiful inside and out – she was a special lady and sadly missed. May all of the happy memories bring you consolation even though your heart is breaking. She will always be with you in spirit. God bless.

Cathey displayed such grace under fire. She was inspirational to the end. No one ever fought harder for life, or understood what a gift it is. Love and hugs to each of you.

My thoughts are with you now as you celebrate a life lived to the fullest but taken from her earthly home much too soon. She has received her angel wings a d her spirit is now free and she once again like estate a full and healthy life in paradise. Thinking of Cathey and how she was front and center in my fondest memories of college. I will miss her sense of humor, her intelligence, her smile and her infectious love and compassion for animals. My sincere condolences to all the friends and family are a feeling such loss and grief at this time.

So sorry for your loss. Your family is in our prayers and thoughts. I am going to miss Cathy we did a lot together in 4-H and seeing her during the Heritage Festival and Craft Show at Nifong Park weaving.
I remember Cathy from our days at Midway Elementary School together, she was always so sweet. I wish I had known her as an adult, she sounds like she turned into an incredible woman. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
