Charles Ellis Malcolm, 72, passed away on June 25th, 2021 at KU Medical Center due to complications from Heart Surgery.
Chuck was born July 13th, 1948 in Greenwich, CT to Douglas and Marjorie Malcolm, who preceded him in death.
He grew up with Scott, Cathy and Robin. As a teen and young adult, he loved playing Lacrosse and Football. After graduating from college, Chuck entered the US Army and served our country for over 20 years. After retiring from the Army Chuck went on to work for the Veteran Affairs in Topeka, KS until he reached retirement.
In 1985, Chuck and Marti were married in Phoenix, AZ and have enjoyed traveling and playing bridge together ever since.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful step-father, cherished PaPa and a kind human being.
He is survived by his wife Marti, his step-son Matt Gross, his step-daughter Erin Clark, her husband BJ, and their children Jillian and Raegan. He is also survived by his siblings, older brother Scott Malcolm, younger sisters Cathy Shepard and Robin Borean.
Chuck was an avid bridge player and enjoyed as many golf rounds as possible.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30pm, Thursday July 1st at Heritage United Methodist Church in Overland Park, KS. Additional Celebration of Life will be held at Village Shalom following the service. Chuck will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a future date.
My brother, we will miss you terribly. Your kind voice, your gentle spirit, your jokester ways, your sense of humor, your passion for our country, and your deep love for your family will remain an important part of our life memories forever. We were blessed to call you our brother. Rest in peace, Chuck.
Marti, I am saddened by your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Patsy Pempin
I only recently met Chuck by joining his regular golf group at Sycamore Ridge. I appreciated his love for both golf and K-State athletics (he even had a K-State golf bag.) My sincere condolences to his family. Praying for comfort in the days ahead.
Worked with Chuck and also played golf with him over the last few years. Always enjoyed being around him. Appreciated him serving our country for 20 years in the Army.
Going to miss his humor and wit when we tee it up without him. I’m sure he’ll be teeing up in the heavens and finding a good bridge tourney.
Condolences to the family.
Played golf with Chuck not only at Sycamore but also in our KC Sr. League. While Chuck clearly enjoyed golf I think his true passion was playing bridge. Whenever he returned from a tournament he always had a story to tell. I think what I will remember most about Chuck was that he seldom had a serious complaint. Despite the occasional health issue or bad round of golf he always had a smile on his face.
Rest In Peace friend.
So deeply sorry for you Marti, the pain will never cease, but it will eventually lessen.
Dear Marti and all of Chuck’s loving family, which includes his brother Scott and sisters Cathy and Robin. My heart goes out to you all as the age of 72 was when I lost my first sibling, so I understand your grief. Remember the good times and court your blessings for all the fond memories you have of Chuck. He was special with a kind heart and caring ways. Much love to you all. Aunt Renie
Marti,
