Charles William Turner Jr., 50, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away peacefully at home on Friday February 26th surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Debbie, his parents Buck Turner and Louise (Cukjati) Turner of Raytown, his brother David, multiple aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Charles was born in Pittsburg, KS. He graduated from Raytown South High School and received his Associates degree from Longview Community College. He was a dedicated, and extremely skilled, dental lab technician for 32 years. Charles married into a family that loved, respected and appreciated him for being the wonderful and generous man he was. He was a great husband who wasn’t opposed to helping around the house as well as doing all the yard work – of course yard work was definitely preferred since he loved the outdoors. He cherished his four legged critters. He enjoyed the time he spent working on different household projects with his dad as well as weekly dinners with his parents. He loved fishing, boating, music, working on cars, building things and fixing things – sometimes fixing the things he built. He was an avid KC Royals fan and was glad to see a World Series win – Go ROYALS! Charles was a loyal friend and although he was quiet, he had a quick wit and would come back with a humorous retort when you least expected it. He will be missed by the many who knew and loved him, but we know his presence will remain in our hearts forever. Goodbye Charles. We love you!
A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 SW State Route 150, Lee’s Summit, Mo 64082 and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the church. Burial at Longview Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Saint Luke’s Hospice, 3100 Broadway, #1000, Kansas City, Mo 64111 or the Lung Cancer Alliance, 1700 K Street NW, Washington, DC 20006.
What Cancer Cannot Do
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.
We are all saddened by the loss of our good friend Charles. He meant so much to so many. He will be missed.
