Cora “Corky” Morton

Cora “Corky” Pauline Morton, 62, entered into eternal rest November 29, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Per her wishes cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.  She was born Jan. 18, 1946 in Pittsfield, IL to the late Gussie and Isa (Guthrie) Wintjen.  On March 7, 1964 she married Richard G. “Pete” Peters in Savannah, IL and he preceded her in death.  Cora then remarried to Monte M. Morton and he survives her of Bowling Green, MO.  She is also survived by her two sons, Tim G. Peters and his wife Michele of Wardsville, MO and Tracy D. Peters and his wife Heather of Henley, MO, her daughter, Tina M. Peters of Jefferson City, MO, a brother, Larry Wintjen and his wife Carol of Hardin, IL, sisters, Patricia Rardin of Sedalia, MO and Shirley Mutert of Platte City, WI as well as grandchildren Dalton, Jayde, Cole and Kayleigh and many precious nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Cora is also preceded in death by an infant son Terry G. Peters, a brother Howard Wintjen, and two sisters Lily “Dolly” Darlene Wintjen and Isa “Florene” Simpkin.  She was employed at Ryan’s Steakhouse in Jefferson City.  The thing she enjoyed the most was spending time with her grandchildren.  She also loved nature, especially hunting mushrooms and gathering plants, roots and nuts with her brother Larry.  Memorial Contributions are requested to Community Hospices of America, 1005 Northeast Dr., Jefferson City, MO 65109.
