“Now I’m teeing off in Heaven on God’s great golf course.”
David Alan Burress, 78, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on September 27, 2025, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th St., Kansas City, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at 11:00 a.m.
David was born on July 16, 1947, to Walter and Martha Burress. On April 28, 1990, he married the love of his life, Carol Burress.
Dave enjoyed starting and improving new adventures, he loved the challenge! He was the owner of several businesses and, for the past 20 years, worked as Regional Sales Manager for Heartland Windows. Many may not know that he was also a talented artist. Dave loved his God, his family, his golf, his Kansas City Chiefs, spending time on the beach, and he always knew the closest QuikTrip to grab his Coke. Known as a true “shoe nut,” he likely had more pairs than Mahomes himself.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children, Angel Burress of Oregon, Robyn (Joel) Hanson of Colorado, Alisha (Nick) Macha of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Rocky (Solenice) Burress of Oregon; his 97 year old mother, Marti Phipps of Kansas City, MO; sister, Diane (Joe) Caudillo of Kansas City, MO; brother, Dan (Shawna) Phipps of Garden City, MO; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family whom he cherished and had so much fun with.
Dave, we hope you’re having the time of your life teeing off on Heaven’s golf course, cold Coke in hand and the perfect pair of shoes on your feet.❤️
56 years of memories. Thanks Dave
Dave was a sweetheart. I met him through Carol & attended their beautiful wedding. I am so blessed to have attended church & small group with he & Carol & appreciated his sense of humor. Dave, I know you are enjoying Heaven to the fullest.🥰
I’ve known Dave since I can remember having grown up in the same church together and only a year apart. So many precious childhood memories at church and church camp. My late husband and I spent many precious and fun memories with Dave and Carol. I loved him dearly and will miss him but I know he is having a blast with his old buddies who have gone before him. Dave, we will see you soon. Love you dear friend.
BIG DAVE,
WE ALL WILL MISS YOU. YOU WERE LIKE THE BROTHER I NEVER HAD.
SO MANY MEMORIES FOR OVER 6 DECADES OF FUN AND CHALLENGES.
TELL THE LORD THAT YOU BEAT ME TO HEAVEN TOO!
I WANT TO THANK CAROL FOR THE GREAT CARE THAT SHE SHOWED YOU
UNTIL YOU LEFT FOR HEAVEN.
What blessing you and Carol were to us. Dave you fought a good fight, finished your race, henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness which the Lord shall give that day. When we think of Dave this verse is so true. Dave’s battle is over. So Carol praying His omfort be yours daily. We love you.
My Brother…
My Hero…
My Friend…
You are Forever in my Heart!
I Love You Bro!!! ❤️
Dave was always friendly, kind and helpful to everyone! He always had a smile on his face and made time for anyone who needed him! He will be greatly missed. I know you loved the Lord Jesus with all your heart and are enjoying being in his presence, no more pain or suffering only heavenly bliss with your savior!
Dave was at Evangel with Lloyd and me. We reconnected at Northland Cathedral when I was in charge of CE and he became one of our most beloved Sunday School teachers. We’ll always remember your wonderful smile.
