Deloris Jean Bellew

Deloris Jean Bellew, 83, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2025.

Born on October 5, 1942, in Independence, Missouri, Deloris known lovingly as Dee grew up facing many challenges. It is nothing short of a miracle that she emerged with such kindness, strength, and compassion. She was a true example of a rose growing through concrete.

Family and helping others were always what mattered most to Dee. She gave freely and without hesitation, offering help to anyone in need. She had a special gift for welcoming those who felt lost or overlooked and making them feel valued and loved. Her care for others was genuine and unconditional. Through her dedication to supporting and loving those she encountered, she earned the titles of Mom, Grandma, Nana, sister, and friend to many by blood or by choice.

Throughout her life, Dee worked many jobs, always doing whatever was necessary to ensure those around her were taken care of. No matter her role, caring for others was her greatest purpose. She loved reading across a variety of genres, and if thrift-store shopping could have been a profession, she would have been its ultimate expert.

Dee has joined her son, Shane, in heaven, along with her brother Steve, grandson Dylan, and many others she loved dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammie Chappel; grandchildren Shane Blankenship, Ashley Lyons, Jason Lyons, and Jessica Lyons; great grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many others who loved her deeply and will never forget her. Her absence leaves a lasting void, and life will never feel quite the same without her.

The family would like to thank everyone who supported Deloris throughout her life, especially in her final days. Your kindness and care will never be forgotten.

A service honoring Deloris’s life will be held on December 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Heartland Burial and Cremation in Raytown, Missouri.
