Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Denver “Neil” Karlstrom, age 67, took wings on Feb. 8, 2019, following a lengthy bout with lung cancer. He left wife, Debbie; daughters: Kelsey-Sgt USMC (husband, Jeremy-2ndLt USMC, children: Emma 6, Damian 5 and yet to be born Addie); Jayme- Capt USMC; and grandpuppies: Keeda, Bruce and Luna. Neil spent 40 years in the commercial construction business and loved what he did. After retiring, he took to the golf course and became a marshal. As a tribute, we will gather on March 20, from 2-4 pm in the Elmridge Room at Tomahawk Golf Course, 17501 Midland Dr., Shawnee, KS.
Neil and I grew up together in Wichita……from the time we were just little “tykes” only a few years old…..our two families became friends through our church and we would get together often for picnics and other outings….picking peaches in the orchards down south….going to MacArthur Beach and Midland Beach (old sand pits)….and other little ventures……and then on to cub scouts / boy scouts….and on to play little league baseball and basketball through the “Y”…….and bowling leagues at Seneca Bowl……he enjoyed “hot” cars in the day….I remember his new red 1970 396 Chevelle…..and later a new 1982 red Corvette…..not that that is real important, but he did enjoy that……we went through high school together and as often happens drifted on our different paths in life…..we went long periods without chatting but we would catch up every so often….(and we did that alot more in the last couple of years or so)…..he was typically a pretty jovial guy and I will always remember his great smile (and CURLY hair in his younger days). Wish we had kept more in touch over the years…..but life seems to get in the way. We had some really good times and I will miss you ol’ buddy…..you were a great bud to grow up with. We shall meet again. My thoughts and prayers are with Debbie and your family. Love ya man !
Debbie, Kelsey and Jayme, so sorry to hear about Neil. The stories that you tell will keep him in the memory of his Grandchildren. So sorry, he worked hard all of his life to provide for his family.
