Donald David Thompson

Donald David Thompson, 79, of Raytown, MO passed away December 31, 2025 at home. Visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2025 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64133. Burial will take place at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburgh, KS.

Donald was born on December 19, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Kansas. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Donald had a deep love for music, especially the Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and he enjoyed playing the guitar. He was an avid collector of antiques and had a strong appreciation for history. Donald also loved traveling and had a special fondness for the California coast.

He was preceded in death by: mother, Hazel Thompson; father, Donald O. Thompson; and brother, Bobby Thompson.

Survivors include: wife, Martha Thompson; daughters, Kim (Todd) Reffitt and Robin (Mat) Miller; sister, Patty (Jim) Hodgson; grandchildren, Dillon Reffitt, Jordan (Patricia) Reffitt, Jesse Brown, Samantha Miller and Michael Miller; and great grandchildren, Landon Brown, Maddix Brown, Derek Reffitt, Levi Reffitt, Kaizlee Brown, and Jacob Reffitt.

The family of Donald would like to send a special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Ascend Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

    So sorry to hear about a very good friend. We hadn’t spoken for a long time, but I always considered him my good friend. Heartfelt wishes go to his family and other friends. Prayers will be offered up as well. God be with you, Don.

    He was always a mystery to me but we were always like old friends when we met. He would always get me with a joke that he presented so seriously. I’m sure he’s enjoying his wings and flying high especially since he now has his besty by his side. Rest in peace and enjoy the ride
