Dr. Todd S Jones

Dr. Todd S Jones, DC, FASA, FIAMA, Dip. Ac, CCSP, DACBN, 58 of Blue Springs, MO died peacefully Saturday, August 3, 2024, after experiencing a sudden cardiac event on Sunday, July 28th, 2024.

He was born November 13, 1965, in Sidney, Nebraska and graduated from Raytown High School in 1984. Learning has been a priority throughout his life. Simply put, he was brilliant. He obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Logan University in 1990. He has additional post-graduate, board-certified degrees in Acupuncture, Sports Medicine, and Functional Neurology. He was also certified in Traumatic Brain Injury, Vestibular Rehabilitation, and Childhood Neurobehavioral Disorders. For 34 years, his unique, diagnostic framework and focus has been to incorporate natural methods and help people recover from complex injuries and serious illnesses.

He enjoyed deciphering the human health puzzle like someone might solve a Rubik’s cube. His diverse background and curious nature, not only in Chiropractic, Eastern Medicine, Nutrition, and Sports Medicine, gave him an introspective and fresh look at the human body. Looking beyond his educational accomplishments, he was an incredibly compassionate and empathetic doctor partly due to his own health issues. Many people may not know that he was born with a heart abnormality called coarctation of the aorta. He worked diligently to keep himself healthy with diet and exercise. His cardiac event was not related to a lifestyle issue; it was a complication connected to his diagnosis.

It would be impossible to determine what he enjoyed doing most. In the last year, he started teaching medical classes for an online university. He absolutely loved teaching. He was an incredible professor who cared for his students and enjoyed working and supporting his colleagues. When he was not studying, he enjoyed lots of activities with his family: traveling, biking, hiking, walking, lifting weights, kayaking, and working in the flower garden. We like to say he was poly’jam’orous, because he listened to and loved such a wide variety of musical genres. His depth of knowledge and skill in the kitchen was enjoyed by all.

Dr. Jones was married for 38 years to his wife, Ellen. He was passionately attentive, constantly serving, helping and loving. He was intensely proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Jones; his son, Gabriel (Julie) LaCubbert; his daughter, Olivia (Austin) Lahman; his daughter, Alexia (Mick) Jones; his mother and father-in-law, Carol and Howard Fritz; his brother, Scott Jones; and his grandchildren, Jordyn, Maximus, Persephone, Andrew, Rowan, and Wesley. He was predeceased by his brother, Seth.

Dr. Jones will be remembered as a passionate and loving husband, father, granddaddy, son, brother and friend. His vibrant, connective spirit and joy will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He absolutely loved giving to others. As a parting gift, he donated his body to science. When he was in medical school, he spent many months in a cadaver lab. He named the body he was working on Ernest, so that he could say he was working “in Earnest.”

As he disliked funerals, a FUNeral will be held on Thursday, August 15 from 6 – 8 pm at the Disabled American Veterans Center. Address: 14605 E US Hwy 40, Kansas City, MO 64136.  This wilI be a time to celebrate his life, remember the courageous way he lived each day and raise a toast in his honor.  Dr. Jones liked vibrant colors, fun socks and enjoyed embracing diversity in humanity. Please consider wearing clothing or socks to honor his style. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association www.heart.org or Logan University https://www.logan.edu/form-donation/.

This a whole shock to me. I’ve known Todd and most of his family for more than 30 years. Met him when I was a young believer and he was my first ever Chiro guy. Recommended literal dozens to him over the years as one of the best around. Such a huge heart for people, and learning and teaching, and just loving on people. Rest easy my friend…

  10. Lisa Smith on August 6, 2024 at 12:14 pm

Like everyone else, I’m shocked! Todd was not only my friend and my brother in Christ, he was such an encouragement and inspiration to me in becoming a nurse. He’s one of the few medical professionals that I had complete trust in. so much that I sent my family and friends to him. He is irreplaceable. I can only imagine what all of you are going through. Please know you, we are lifting you up to the Father’s throne. and as much as I grief for all he left behind, I know he is celebrating with his Savior right now!

Praying that you will be comforted during this time.

A man such as Todd leaves an impact on so many and a complete and utter void. Todd was not just my chiropractor, my brother in Christ, he was my friend. Whether I had seen him just yesterday, months, or even years, had gone by, he picked up right where we left off. His exuberance for life and for people drew so many to him. I’ve never seen him without a smile on his face. He genuinely cared for people and it showed in everything he did.

My prayers are with Ellen and the rest of the family. May you be completely embraced by the Great Comforter as you mourn the great void this wonderful man leaves behind. His life was a living testimony of the love of Christ and I pray that brings you all comfort.

Ellen and Olivia, Gabriel and Lexi—
Words don’t work here. I can’t find them for this one. I’m weeping too hard. Suffice to say I am with you, simply feeling it alongside you, available however I can help in any way, ever. Love you each so very much. This much I can say: Todd lit up the room wherever he was in the world, brightly enough to leave traces that will last for generations. His love remains.

  45. Nancy Nokes on August 9, 2024 at 8:08 pm

I feel like we have lost our own family member. We are so shocked and saddened by his passing. We started seeing Dr, Jones over 35 years ago and knew there was no doctor like him. He helped me, my children and now my grandchildren. There will never be another doctor/friend who could ever replace him. When I first took my kids to him I remember thinking “If I didn’t know he was a Christian I would think he was a witch doctor!” His methods were so unconventional at the time but always worked! Over the years, when someone had an issue, we always said “go to Dr. Jones”. My heart is sick for his family and all of us who loved him. I still can’t believe he is gone. Love and prayers to his family. He was an incredibly special man. ❤️
