Duce Pomele

Duce Pomele, a man known for his big heart, retired peacefully on the 14th of February. He was born on the beautiful Island of Hawaii on the 8th of October 1989. Duce was then raised by his grandmother for the first five years of his life in the motherland of Western Samoa. He lived for most of his childhood onward in Hawaii until spending the rest of his adolescence and the rest of his life in Independence Missouri alongside his mother, his father, and his two little sisters. Duce’s laughter, one-of-a-kind humor, caring mentality, and all-around impact on people he meets will forever be missed. He was a “Big” man with a “Big” heart who had nothing but love to show to anyone and everyone he came into contact with. His big family and even bigger friend groups that he has made over his time spent on earth shows as a testament to the amount of love he had and the impact he has made in their lives. Though he shows that amount of love to everyone he comes to contact with, he recognized where that love comes from, and that is from the love of God. He understood the concept of God’s goodness and never ceased to share it with the world.

Our dearest Duce’s legacy is continued by; his father Junior Tuafale, his mother Maria Amato, his two little sisters: Taylor Inifi, Shayna Tuafale; and many friends and loved ones.

A family service will be held Monday, March 7th, 2022 at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday the 8th, the main Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am and the burial will follow. Services will be held at The Cornerstone Community of Christ Church located at 1316 South Osage St. Independence MO 64055 and the burial is located at Oakridge Memorial Gardens. All are welcomed and invited to both services! All flower deliveries should be sent to the church address by 3:30 pm on Monday the 7th.

Until that Glorious Morning,

Rest in Jesus

Tusi/Duce, my nephew, my brother, the joy in our laughter, the life of the party, the humility in our thanksgiving, ua ou misia oe lava (I miss you). You always had a way of bringing the sunshine and brightening our lives whether it was by your jokes, smile, or stories. I will never forget dancing together at the reunion in Samoa when we did the haka puaka (Marquesan pig hunting dance) and I was too tired to get down on the ground to act like the pig. And then you just jumped on the ground and started imitating the pig like it was nothing. I said to myself “oi sole, fia ola!” (my oh my, somebody help me!), if Duce can do it, I better do it! You had the biggest heart in the world that was accompanied by the sweetest spirit and amplified by the most hilarious laugh. Alofa tele atu, manuia lau malaga i le lagi (love you and peace be your heavenly journey). Aloha nui loa to all the ohana.

My Duci boy, I thank God for giving me and many the privilege to be part of your journey. You had a heart of gold that drew many to you, and would give all that you have to help another. You took it upon yourself to help your brother Peter care for Lola, and adopted her as your own. She loved you like a father, and I will make sure she never forgets her godfather. Life will never be the same with out you, your compassion for others and especially your humbleness will always be remembered. I miss you so much. Till we meet again on that glorious day my Duce boy…I love you.
