Gilbert Lefholz

Gilbert Louis Lefholz, 74, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2005. He was born April 27, 1930, in Grand Pass, MO. Gil was preceded in death by his loving wife Donna and his adored puppy, Louis. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Kimberly Lefholz, Ft. Worth, TX, and many nieces and nephews, including Amy Boogher, Independence, MO. Gilbert was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Navy, and retired from Trans World Airlines in 1992 after 36 years of service as a Maintenance Inspector at the KCI Maintenance Base. Gil was a 50 year member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), for which he served as International President in 1984-87. He performed nationally and internationally with his quartet, “The Kippers,” who were part of a Pacific Hospital Circuit USO Tour in 1969. Gil was recently honored by the Heart of America Chorus of Kansas City with the newly established Joe Stern Award for his many years of service to the Society that he loved so much. Gil will be remembered by his many friends across the country for his booming bass voice, his love of a good joke, and his devotion to Barbershop music. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, February 24 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPEBSQSA Harmony Foundation, 225 W. Washington, Ste. 2330, Chicago, IL, 60606, in memory of Gil Lefholz to benefit music education.
