She graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1969 in Red Cloud, NE, and University of Nebraska in 1973 with BA in Social Work and Psychology. Iris worked with everyone from drug abusers as a women’s correction officer to the elderly as Executive Director of the Shepherd Center; even the youth in the community as a substitute teacher in the Raytown School District. Iris enjoyed doing crafts, needlework, jewelry, nurturing plants and flowers, searching Thrift Shops and garage sales for bargains, playing BUNCO with neighborhood women friends, working with the Scouts, traveling and experiencing new adventures with her family. She loved working with Shepherd’s Center and participation in her church. Iris’s family wants to thank Unit 41 and 42 at the KU Medical Center for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge United Methodist Church, Shepherd Center of Raytown or Kansas University Cancer Center. Iris will be remembered for her smile, her love of people, and her generous heart.
