James Lee Dodson

James Lee Dodson, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, died Saturday April 6th, 2012 after fighting a long and courageous battle with autoimmune pancreatitis.  Jim was born April 15th, 1932 in Fayette, Missouri to Earl and Edith Dodson.  He was raised on a farm and graduated from Glasgow High School. He enlisted in the Army when he was 17 and was a Korean War Veteran. It was in the army where he learned what would be his lifelong profession as an auto mechanic. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Kimberling. They had 2 daughters, Sheryl and Vanessa. They later divorced and Jim married Brenda Burney to whom he was married 35 years. Jim’s life was working on cars, working in his yard and bowling. He bowled several times a week, sometimes two leagues per day. He was an avid sports fan; he loved cheering on the Royals and the Chiefs. He loved animals and over the years had many cats and dogs.  He is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Diecidue of Independence, Missouri and Vanessa Oyler also of Independence, Missouri.  He had four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda, sister, Helen, brother, Earl and his parents.Visitation will be at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri, Wednesday April 11th at 2:00pm with funeral service to follow at 3:00pm.
