I love you John, you and your wife made me feel at home when I was with you both. Now you are home ?? no more pain, rest peacefully. You have made a huge impact on my life and tons of other foster kids, you will always be remembered and forever in our hearts
The Grace that John showed as he suffered and ultimately died was a true inspiration to me and I’m sure many others. He was truly an example of a Godly man. I have no doubt he heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, enter now into your rest”! I look forward to seeing you again someday soon!
You and Diana came into our lives at a young age, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for opening up your heart and your home to my nieces and their children, and loving them as if they were your own. It wasn’t easy but you did it and made it look so. It’s not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later, please watch over them and keep them safe as you always did! The battle is over now, may you rest in peace.
I’m grateful for my friend John Matthies. He worked hard I loved his wife and family and was always kind. A great sense of humor. And sure was right about this, he always told me if we were in a race he would win and he did. He’s there, home and no more suffering. My deepest condolences to John’s family.
John and I were both in the promotional products production business. His company did all of my embroidery orders. He was a pleasure to work with and we became close friends several years ago. We loved trading our production nightmare stories. I visited John the same day he passed which was very moving for me, a mixture of sadness and happiness knowing that he was going to a better place. I will really miss my friend.
Have been neighbors of John and Diana since 2008. Saw the amazing things these two do for others…John was a great family man, businessman, husband, father, grandpa and also the biggest Chief’s fan ever! Will miss you greatly John! GO CHIEFS! ??
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.
Words can’t really express our feelings for the loss of John. He was such a nice man, always had a smile and always such a pleasure to talk to. It was clear that he loved his family and he always put them first. We have the most pleasant memories of John and he will be greatly missed.
My heartfelt condolences to John’s family. We knew each other but a short time and I always thought he was a very kind and
gentle person. Our business got in the way of our friendship and I regret that. Peace and prayers to you all.
Our favorite memory of John was at The Elms on our honeymoon when he and Diane sent a chocolate and fruit basket to our room. We were so surprised but we shouldn’t have been. That was just them being kind and thoughtful like usual. We will miss him and our hearts go out to his family. Anything you need, Diane, just let us know.
