Joseph Martinez, 70, of Independence, MO, passed away March 20, 2013. A visitation will be held from 11-12pm and a memorial service following at 12pm, Saturday, March 23rd at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. Joseph is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Barbara, 6 children, Joseph J. Martinez, Tamara E. Gaunce, Barbara A. Beaver, Joseph F. Martinez, Richard P. Martinez, Catherine M. Lewis, 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. The family has requested that memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th Street. Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
The best dad in the world. I will see you again someday i know you are in Gods arms watching over us. No pain .. restored health! Knowing that brings comfort to my heart. You fought hard dad and now you can rest in peace. I love you so very much your daughter cathy <3

We will miss Josephwill, his bright smile, the good humor but most of all I am going to miss my younger brother. May the Lord will hold Joseph in the palm of his hand. He is now at peace, we will miss him dearly. I will always remember him smiling and his good humor. A wonderful brother and brother-in-law. We were so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. He will be remember by many that loved him. His great smile and funny comments made you love him more. To Barbara are thoughts and prayers are with you in your great loss. To have 49 years to spend with Joe was a great celebration of your love for each other. We hope that the love of family and friends will help you and your family get through this most difficult time. For all the children and grandchildren just know that a Father’s love is a special gift that will live forever in your hearts.. He will always be remembered.
