Josiah Nathaniel Byars, 33, passed away October 23 rd , 2023 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was born December 3rd, 1989 in Rome, New York to Clif and Rhonda Byars.
Josiah absolutely loved everything about the outdoors. He was raised and lived most of his life in the Big Skies of Kalispell, Montana where his family settled in 1996. He attended his elementary and middle school years at Kila School in Kila, Montana. Continuing on to Flathead High school and then acquiring his GED from Flathead Community College in 2008.
Josiah loved to go hunting with his family and closest friends. He loved to go fishing, ATVing, motorcycling, horseback riding, camping, and snowboarding. In his adult years he found his passion for surfing on the endless, calming waves of the Gulf of Mexico.
He was a man of many talents starting at the young age of 10 working alongside his father with the family business Byars Flooring and Contracting. He later went on to over the road truck driving visiting many states across the US accompanied by his trusty companion Tanner J. He successfully fulfilled his dream of creating and owning his own company “Tikili Ice” and working again alongside his parents at the age of 27 in Palm Springs, California. After selling his company he moved with his parents to Corpus Cristi, Texas where he started a job working for a 5g fiber optic company. He wanted to broaden his horizons and had always had a strong love for Kansas upon driving through there while driving big rigs; he decided to make a change and move there after being hired on to Jayhawk Fine Chemicals where he quickly excelled as a Chemical Technician.
Though Josiah was a quiet reserved man, he had a love and compassion for anyone that crossed his path. His funny, witty personality would radiate out of his core drawing people to him. He was always the first to jump and help those in need without hesitation.
Josiah is survived by his parents Clif and Rhonda Byars of Rockport, Texas. His sister Kyria (Byars) Brown, and her husband Michael Brown of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. His niece Keyona Larsen and nephew Gunner Brown. Paternal Grandmother Mildred Byars. Maternal Grandmother Valerie Paige/LaChance. 19 aunts and uncles, 35 immediate cousins, and numerous 2nd cousins. His closest friend who was like a brother to him, Thomas Hilliard of Marion, Montana. To include, last but not least, his faithful companion and fur baby Tanner J.
Memorial contributions and condolences can be sent to Clif and Rhonda Byars at 110 Captains Bay Dr. Rockport, Texas 78382.
Josiah loved Jesus and accepted him as his lord and savior at an early age. He will forever be in our hearts and be loved and missed; but this world was not his home.
Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time. We remember Josiah & Cliff working on his new venture, & how proud he was building his “ beverages on wheels “ and trying out names for it !
And making & naming his new beverages, you all had so much fun!
Our thought & prayers are with you.
Time has passed since I meet you as a small kid in Montana. Facebook kept me in the loop of you life. I had to read the posts about your passing several times. I couldn’t believe it.
I pray that you have peace and are among all the others waiting for us to join when time allows it.
You will always be in our thoughts.
My deepest condolences goes out to your dear family whom I think about quite often.
My condolences to a family that is deeply in my heart. Your loss is great and The Lord is carrying you when it’s not possible to walk. May The Spirit of Love be with you and I pray for Josiah to be in the arms of Jesus
Josiah, so many glimpses of you throughout these past 33 years wash over all of us.
You are the youngest of your generation in the Byars family.
That little blond boy with the shy smile captured our hearts.
Your gentle nature was enjoyed by all.
We love you so much and will share memories of you always.
We are so grateful for the week we shared together in such a beautiful spot in New Mexico this summer. None of us knew those were our final memories we were creating with you.
We love you Josiah! Love Aunt Claudia and Uncle Randy
I don’t meet many people quite as easy to talk to as my cousin Josiah. He was a talented & kind man. I have fond memories of him helping me on projects and hanging out with him. Most people just want to talk instead of have a conversation. Josiah wasn’t like that. Josiah was a listener that actually cared about the people he was talking to. He wasn’t in the conversation to say something. He was in the conversation to talk to that person. I wish so many things…
I am not sad for my cousin… because he suffers no more. He’s doing so much better than us. But I am very sad for those of us he’s left behind. Like all of our loved ones before him, he awaits. I can’t wait for that day to see all of them again.
It’s crazy how difficult these times of grief are. When in the grand scheme of things….. it’s hardly a blip in our eternal story.
I feel really blessed that the Lord placed Josiah in our family as my grandson.
We had him for 33 years. Time flew so fast. We weren’t ready to say goodbye!
He had a loving heart & would always show love when needed. I love him dearly and will miss him so much! He will always remain alive in my heart.
Love you Josiah! Grandma Byars
Josiah was a great guy. He was very knowledgeable in his work and helped me with different projects on my house and other jobs. He had a quiet confidence about him that I admired and a great personality. We joked about a lot of things and was a fun dude to be around. We had a great time with him at the family reunion just a few months back and that’s why it’s so hard to understand why this happened. Only God has the answers. I pray Uncle Clif and Aunt Rhonda find peace through this most difficult time. Look forward reuniting with him down the road in heaven with all of our love ones who have gone before us.
