Kathryn Kumpf, age 83, of Gladstone MO , passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025 from complications from intestinal blockage. She was born on February 3, 1942 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Kathryn worked for the Internal Revenue Service, the Harmon Bus Company in Kansas City, and later for Walmart in Monett, Missouri, where she remained for 20 years. She retired at the remarkable age of 80.
During the childhoods of her sons, Rob and Barry, she was an active and devoted mother. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for Rob and was the number-one fan of Barry’s Little League and scholastic baseball career.
Kathryn enjoyed spending time in her yard, working puzzles, and watching classic movies.
Kathryn was preceded in death by: mother, Ella Wood; father, Bill Wood; sisters, Nita and Danelle.
He is survived by: brother, Bill Wood Jr.; son, Rob Kumpf (Melanie); step-granddaughter, Chelsey Rowden (Tyler); great-grandaughters, Maddie and Rylyne; son, Barry Kumpf (Laura); grandaughters, Sarah and Kaley; and grandson, Jayse; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by her two sons and their families.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
