She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to William (Bill) & Alice Renick on April 8, 1951, the youngest of 2 children.
Kathryn, Kat, Kathy, Mama, Nana/Grandma, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy became a professional hair dresser and worked at many high end salons and eventually owned her own. Her hobbies included stain glass, jewelry making, sewing & craft projects, being outside, gardening, reading, traveling & shopping. She LOVED going to Oak Grove to visit “her babies “, as she would say. Family was very important to her- she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend to all who knew her. She was a carefree spirit, taking life as it came and always there to give a helping hand to all who knew her and to some that didn’t. Kathy was a warrior, a beloved soul who touched many lives and will be missed tremendously. Mama: I love you to the moon and beyond….fly high and Rest in paradise. Forever missing you.
Celebration of Life will be on September 25, 2025 at Antioch Church, 5201 Antioch Rd Overland Park, KS 66202. Visitation will take place at 6:00 pm with the service following at 7:00 pm, officiant, Pastor Kerry Murphy.
In Lieu of Flowers please make a donation to one of the following charities: Make a Wish, Ronald McDonald House, or the American Lung Cancer Society.
My heartfelt condolences to the family and to all who feel the loss of her presence here on Earth.
Her special smile and unique ability to brighten anyone’s day with a wry sense of humor and depth of her caring heart.
My ongoing message to anyone who is feeling sad, while perfectly normal and I would be the first to offer a hug or cry with you…. Just because you cannot see her, doesn’t mean she is gone.
Any more than a wave that crashes onto the beach is not gone, but only changed back to what it always was… the vast and deep ocean. All along, it was just the ocean waving. I love you Kat and will miss you… until my wave hits the beach and we can all wave again!
I miss you Mama Kat. Thank you for including me, hugging me and loving me. Thank you for listening to me when I lost my Mama and for all of the kind words. I will be beside Lisa forever and ever, just like I promised you, or until she gets sick of me. Lisa and Jamie, I am completely here for you always. I love you.
Your Sissy,
Susie
Kathy and I were in typing class at Raytown Junior High School. We were also in band together playing the Saxophone. She always had the top spot and I was always 2nd. Bless you in Heaven Kathy! Fred McCullough KC2HFM
