Kristopher Jonathan Kolander

Kristopher Jonathan Kolander, 43, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away May 28, 2023. Although he left this world without warning, he was at his favorite place surrounded by his favorite people. There is no question that Kris is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Kristopher was born on June 11, 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri. Kristopher is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee O’Hare and his father, Kim Stephen Kolander. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Melissa Kolander (Hambleton), his 4 children, Rylee, Kaleb, Mia, and Maisy Kolander, his siblings Kyle and Kimberly Kolander, Melissa (Rob) Davidson, his step-mother Linda Kolander (Clinard) in addition to many caring family members.

Framed on Kristopher’s mantle is the verse 1 Corinthians 8:3 – But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

Ask Kris’s family, church body, coworkers and clients: Kris loved God. His testimony was consistent with every person he interacted with. He was always looking for an opportunity to share God’s Word in order to help others submit to the Lord and grow in their personal relationship with Christ. Like his pastor frequently says, “Love without truth is not true love,” Kris unapologetically stood on God’s infallible, preserved Word in order to please the Lord in all he did. His greatest desire was not just to get into heaven, but to reign with Christ by standing unashamed before Him. 2 Corinthians 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Kris’s life verse was Romans 15:30 – Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

Kris lived this verse and it was evident in his many prayer requests asking for the Lord’s strength in growing as a biblical husband and father, and leading his family in the Truth of God’s Word. He was an incredible example to all of us. For those of us who know the Lord as our Savior, we look forward to seeing Kris again when we meet our heavenly Father face to face.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 2 pm at Vesper Hall, 400 NW Vesper St, Blue Springs, MO 64014.

Instead of sending flowers, consider donating to the fund started for Missy and the kids. This will aid Missy during this transition and will allow her to continue homeschooling her four children, as this is what Kris wanted.

    We, the Jones family, from the Colón Bible Church (Panama), ask our Lord Jesus Christ to comfort you and give you strength after Kris’s departure. Missy and the boys, we love you, God continue to strengthen you.

    If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
    Philipians 2:1-2

    Kris was a caring and wonderful son in law. He took good care of me. He and Missy were soul mates and amazing parents to their children. He will be dearly missed.
