LaVerne Dean Facklam, 69, of Kansas City, MO passed away in his home on November 26, 2022. Family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
Mr. Facklam was born February 10, 1953 in Emporia, KS and grew up there with his four older siblings. Dean joined the US Navy after graduating from high school, and served proudly during the Vietnam War era. He was an Auxiliary Member of VFW Post 1829. Dean loved to learn, and completed many college courses and travelled as much as he could. Dean enjoyed many years in Las Vegas where he was a talented Upholsterer and enjoyed serving others, before returning to Kansas City to be near family. Throughout his life, Dean was always there to help those who were alone, in need, or ill, and he was dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Herbert Facklam and Wilma Bernadine (Hinderliter) Facklam, and his brothers David Eugene Facklam and John Duane Facklam.
Survivors include sisters Jeanette (Craig) Burris and Barbara (Stan) Crawford, sisters-in-law Marilyn Facklam and Janice Facklam, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to the staff at Enhabit Hospice. Because of the kindness and care shown by his nurse Bill, Dean was able to maintain his independence and comfort through the end of his life.
