Leah Chanel

Leah Chanel was born on April 22, 2006, to her parents, Devin Fennell and Cory Clark. From an early age, Leah showed a vibrant spirit, a passion for creativity, and a heart devoted to helping others. She attended Oak Park High School, where she graduated in 2024. Leah had a deep love for art and dreamed of one day becoming an artist for Disney. She pursued this dream at Northwest Missouri State University, where she majored in Graphic Design from 2024–2025. Leah was not only an artist—she was an advocate. She participated in child advocacy programs, speaking up for children in need and striving to be a voice for the voiceless. Determined and resilient, Leah always knew what she wanted out of life and worked tirelessly to pursue it. At just 19 years old, Leah had already touched countless lives simply by being the light she was-with the warmest smile, and brightest eyes. Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and service, the way she cared for others and lived with purpose will be remembered beyond her years. Leah was preceded in death by her uncle, Darrell “Sput” Fennell Jr. She is survived by her mother, Devin Fennell; her brother, Camren Fennell; her grandmother, Deborah “Ally” Gordon; and her grandfather, whom she shared a very special father like relationship, Darrell “Papi” Fennell Sr.

We love you Leah Chanel, forever our Angel – Mom

Leah was such an inspiration to all she came in contact with. Her smile lit up and her creativity in her artwork filled hurts with joy. She had a caring spirit and put so much effort and time in advocating for change within the foster care system. She will be truly missed. God has gained a beautiful angel!!

When I first met Leah, she was one of the most soft spoken, sweetest girls I had met. It didn’t take long to learn that she was also one of the strongest, most determined girls I would ever meet Leah had gifts beyond her years, she crocheted she sewed she painted , had MAD art skills and she used all of those tools to touch other people’s lives. Leah reminded me of a real life, anime doll with all her style and flare! She had a style all her own, and her little bitty self stood out in a crowd. I am so thankful that I had an opportunity to get to be a part of her life. Being part of her college journey was a memory that I will always cherish. She was one of the bravest people I have ever met. She just wanted to live her best life and she did it every day with little to no complaints. Leah you will be missed and I know that heaven is happy to have you. I also believe that you are Healthy and free of pain. Your love of life, and courage to never give up is something we could all stand to learn a few lessons from. You touched so many in your short journey. I will miss you dearly. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your story. With love,
