In Loving Memory
Leandra Sue Jacobs
August 28, 1951 – August 17, 2025
Leandra Sue Jacobs, lovingly known as Sue, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, just shy of her 74th birthday. Born on August 28, 1951, in Kearney, Nebraska, Sue made her home in Norton, Kansas, where she devoted her life to her family.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She is survived by her husband, Vern Jacobs; her daughters Kelli Quigley (Brad) and Wendy Rhein (Bryan); her son, John Jacobs; and her cherished grandchildren: Abby, Anna, Ava, and Ella Quigley. She also leaves behind her sisters Diane Grotfeld and Robyn Grotfeld, as well as her much-loved dog, Bucky.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Lester Grotfeld, and her sister Sandra Howell.
Sue found immense fulfillment in being a stay-at-home mother, raising her children with endless patience, strength, and love. Alongside Vern, she was also instrumental in building and running the family business, always working behind the scenes to keep things going.
Her talents in the kitchen were well-known, and every summer brought with it a fresh batch of her famous homemade salsa—affectionately known by the family as “Sue’s Salsa.” In her later years, she developed a love for photography, capturing the beauty of each new day through sunrise photos—images that now serve as treasured reminders of her gentle spirit and joyful heart.
Sue spent her final month at the Olathe Hospice House, where she was cared for with tenderness and compassion. Her family is deeply grateful to the staff for their kindness and support during that time.
Sue’s legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and beauty and she will be greatly missed.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life at a future date.
Contributions in Sue’s memory can be made to: Olathe Hospice House, Attn:Marsha, 15310 S Marion St Olathe, KS 66061.
