Leon “Len” Bennett, 83, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away April 22, 2024. From a young age, Len shared his God-given gifts with the world; as a Scout, serving his country on a US Navy P2-V aircraft, serving the community through numerous civic organizations, starting and leading ministries of all kinds in the church alongside his wife, and most recently in pastoral care as he visited others in the hospital during their time of need.
His love for family, friends, and the community ranked second only to his love for The Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Edith Bennett, his sister Laneta Belk, and son Brett Bennett.
He is survived and fondly remembered by his best friend of 60 years and wife of 59 3/4 years, Carol Bennett. Sons: Tyler Bennett (Sherri Bennett) of Lee’s Summit; Erik Bennett (Alicia Huffman) of Cary, NC. Grandchildren: Aubrey Cahill (Devon), Austin Bennett, Jacob Hamilton, Abby Hamilton. Great-Grandchildren: Alivia and Colson Cahill.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 6, 2024, at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit at 9am. Memorial Service at 10am.

Sweet Carol and Family,
We were blessed to know Len for many years. He was one of the kindest souls here on earth. His love for Carol was like nothing we have ever seen before. His sweet, calm voice to everyone is something we will never forget. Lens love for his 3 sons was always evident, as he would talk proud about them often. He will be greatly missed but knowing he is with God and his lost loved ones gives great comfort.
All our love,
Molly and Danny O’Rourke
Rest in peace Uncle Len, prayers for Aunty Carol, cousin Ty & family and cousin Eric & Alicia our thoughts are with you at this time. May the Lord wrap his arms around you all and fill you with Love and strength.
My favorite brother-in-law. Our family always looked forward to seeing you. We spoke often of making the trips down to see Carol & Len and the family. It was always the highlight of our summer to see you all when you were able to visit us here in Winnipeg. Len, you made my sister Carol the happiest person she could be. You raised a wonderful family and your zest for life was infectious to all who knew you. There is just too much to mention here but thank you for being a bright light in our family. We’ll miss you always but know that we will meet again.
