Lorrie Lomas-Brown, 60, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away January 10, 2022. Memorial services will be held, 10:00 am, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Evangelistic Center Church, Shawnee, KS.
Lorrie was born on November 18th, 1961 in Midwest City, OK to Johnie and Mildred (Kizer) Lomas. She had 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Due to her father’s military career her family lived in a number of interesting locations which lead to a love of travel that she carried throughout her life. Lorrie graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO. She later graduated with her MBA from Mid America Nazarene College. Lorrie’s favorite vacation spot was the beach, and she also loved going on Caribbean cruises. The only thing she loved more than traveling were her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Michelle; daughter, Angel; and son, Anthony.
Survivors include: husband, Paul; sons, Matthew (Kristin) and Johnie; stepsons, Brian (Kristen) and Adam (Kaitee); daughter, Alyssa (Casey); 11 grandchildren, Katelin, Josiah, Mya, Kylee, Jacob, William, Maria, Leila, Josh, Katie, and Tori; siblings, Ramona, Phil, Frank, Mary, Mitch, Toni, and Alex; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorrie was a very special person with a huge heart and love for life. I will cherish the memories I have of her over the past 40 years. We have shared a lot of life events over that time and I am so thankful she was my friend.
You will be missed more than you’ll ever know. No matter what you had going on in your life you were always there for us and I thank you for that. Your love, compassion and commitment to family will never be forgotten and this world will not be the same without your beautiful smile in it. Thank you for raising such an amazing man. I will forever be blessed to be your son’s wife.
Lorrie, your whole life was about the welfare of others. I never dreamed that less than three weeks ago when we had that nice visit on Christmas Eve that I would never see or talk with you again. My prayers are continually for Paul and your precious family whom you loved and lived for so much.
My condolences to your family.. Sorry for your loss.. My the Lord bless you all in time of need
My most sincere condolences to Lorrie’s family.
I knew Lorrie because of what had happened to her son Anthony. She wanted justice for her son and spoke with such passion at the sentencing of the driver who killed him. After the trial, she worked to get a memorial installed to honor Anthony’s memory in the River Market in Kansas City and devoted herself to advocating for safe streets. Until very recently, she had been supporting efforts to advocate for distracted driving legislation in the Missouri legislature.
Lorrie was never afraid to share the pain she experienced in losing Anthony, and it made her such a powerful speaker. The strength she demonstrated with sharing one of the worst moments of her life, in the hopes that something would change, was an inspiration to me and others. She will be deeply missed.
You will be missed dearly. Rest well in heaven. Love you.
Your niece

Condolences to the family. Lorrie is gone but fond memories remain. Peace and comfort to everyone.
Lorries thank you for letting me always share your children. Will miss you but I know you are at peace and no longer suffering.
My condolences to your family,
I knew Lorri, through her advocacy around distracted driving. I echo Michael’s sentiments that Lorri was in inspiration in her willingness to share about her own experiences, in the hopes that she could help be a part of the change for others. I only knew Lorri through virtual meetings of the distracted driving coalition, but she always had such a presence, and I will miss her dedication and openness in pursuit of positive outcomes for others. Even from the little I knew her, I know she was a tremendous person.
My condolences to the entire family.
I knew of Anthony though the bicycling community but never rode with him. I met Lorrie after Anthony’s passing and really admired her strength and passion. Her ability to time and time again get up and speak about Anthony, her loss and how this is a loss no family should feel again was a real inspiration. Thank you Lorrie for all that you did, for all the love you put into your family and the world, we are better for it!
You were always full of love whenever I seen you! One of favorite places to be was at your house in northeast with you and my cousins! May God comfort all our family through your loss! Sore like an eagle Aunt Lorrie!
I am saddened to learn of the loss of Lorrie Brown, who was an integral voice in the Missouri Hands-Free Coalition. I appreciated every opportunity I had to work with Lorrie to bring her voice to the attention of those that needed to hear it. She joined our coalition and helped to provide testimony and in other speaking engagements, including to Jefferson City where she shared her story on the lawn of our State Capitol. While she had a heavy burden to bear with the loss of her son Anthony, she always found moments of reprieve to smile and appreciate him. We look forward to continuing the fight to end distracted driving in Missouri, and will do so with Lorrie’s memory close at heart.
