Marilyn Taylor

Marilyn D. Taylor of Overland Park, Kan., passed away at her home February 19, 2008, after many years fighting Crohn’s disease and recently pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Taylor was born September 18, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to Henry W. Lincke and Ruby Evans Lincke. She spent her childhood in Toledo and teen years in Bryan, Ohio. In 1961, she and her husband Jerry moved to Memphis, Tenn., where she worked as a bookkeeper for Delta Refinery. Mrs. Taylor became a full-time housewife upon the family’s move to Atlanta, Ga., in 1967. Then it was back to Memphis in 1969 and finally to her new home in Overland Park, Kan., in 1981, where Mrs. Taylor resided the rest of her life. She enjoyed travel and visited Europe, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and many of the Caribbean islands. Mrs. Taylor was always sure all holidays and family birthdays were celebrated with appropriate dinners, cakes and presents. Christmas was her special holiday with pounds of candy and dozens of cookies being prepared for family and friends. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carolyn Rhodus, all of Toledo, Ohio. She is survived by and will be missed by Jerry L. Taylor, her husband of 55 years; sons Steve Taylor of Walls, Miss., and Kevin Taylor of Raytown, Mo.; daughters-in-law Linda Taylor of Walls, Miss., and Tee Taylor of Raytown, Mo.; her sister Virginia Kretz and brother-in-law Richard Kretz of Toledo, Ohio; grandsons Dale Taylor, Neil Taylor, Joshua Taylor and Jonathan Taylor; great grandsons Joseph and Justin Taylor; great granddaughter Allison Paige Taylor; stepsister Eleanor Hyman of Hesperia, Calif., and brother-in-law Don Rhodus. A private memorial and remembrance will be held at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Good Shepherd Hospice, 7611 State Line Road, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
