Mark E. Spicer

After a very brief battle with stage 4 lung cancer and pneumonia, Mark E. Spicer has been lifted up to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He passed on March 17, 2021 at University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) in Kansas City, KS with his loving wife by his side, and family remotely via zoom teleconferencing.

Mark was born on December 15th, 1960 in Norfolk, Virginia to Janet (Nichols) & Charles William Spicer Jr.

He is survived by: wife of 35 years, Candace (Pawley) Spicer; three children: son, James Pawley & Trudy Edwards, grandchildren: James Jr, Ryan, William and Connor; daughter, Marcia & Joseph Whitton (husband), grandchildren: Joey, Lily, and Jacob; daughter Colleen Pawley & John Cano (husband), grandchildren: Aaron, Brandon, Mariah, ShyAnn, Brie, Kayla, Cassie, Darian, Allie, and granddaughter Attalia Lopez whom he never had the chance to meet; oldest great-grandson, Roman Pawley; two very special nieces,Lorelei Chavez & Jessica Thompson whom Mark played a major role in their life; and great grandchildren: Madison & Dominic.

He is also survived by: mother, Janet S. Spicer, sisters, Melanie, Cheri, Janet, Eve, and Joanna; brothers, Charles III, Michael, Matt, Benjamin, Joshua, & Samuel their spouses, children and countless more nieces and nephews, too many to list.

Mark is preceded in death by: father, Charles W. Spicer Jr.; brothers, Clayton Brett Spicer, Stephen David Spicer; and great-granddaughter, baby Bryanna Hernandez who he’s holding tight right now.  Also preceding him in death is his nephews: Charles IV, Thaddeus, and Jared.

Riding motorcycles, camping, and fishing were among some of his favorite memories; however the love of his family, friends, and his animals exceeded all else. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Mark’s Name to the Friendship Inn in Kansas City, KS, as they helped the family tremendously while Mark was hospitalized online or by mail, Friendship Inn 4146 State Line Road, Kansas City, KS 66103.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date in Radium, KS. Burial will take place in La Luz, NM.

    Fly high Dad, I hope you know how much you were loved and will be missed. A piece of my heart left with you the day you earned your Angel wings. Words can never describe the impacted you had on my life, I will cherish the memories. You will be busy up there being the Guardian Angel for all your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren!!
