Michael “Mr. Mike” C. Madsen

Mr. Mike Madsen, 67, Grandview, MO passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Liberty Street Community of Christ Church, 416 N. Liberty St. Independence, MO 64050.

Mr. Mike proudly volunteered for military service, serving his nation in the US Navy from June 1968 until he was honorably discharged in March 1970. He completed boot camp in San Diego, CA and finished his tour of duty on the USS Buck. Mike attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College, completing 48 units of chef training from 1977 to 1979. He continued to enjoy being in the food service industry until his later years. Mike enjoyed spending his time collecting coins and Japanese and Chinese art, fishing, and hunting. He especially enjoyed cooking and preparing a number of dishes.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Cobert and Marylou Madsen. Survivors include his son, Michael James Kelly and is wife Rosa; brothers, Mark Madsen and his wife, Anna Lynne, and Mathew Madsen and his wife, Angie; sisters, Linda Russell, Laura Wright and her husband, William, and Leisa Parker and her husband, Bryan; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Mr. Mike was proud of his accomplishments within the Alcoholics Anonymous organization.

We have lost a wonderful father, incredible brother, a special uncle and a dear friend to many. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him.
