Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
In honor of Michael Ryan Bussell who was born November 18, 1988 in Anchorage, Alaska, and passed away in Perry, Kansas. Growing up in the greater Kansas City, Kansas area since he was 5 years old. We share our goodbye to our child, our son, our friend and soul. We have the honor to carry on his smile, love, hugs, and kisses and amazing life legacy to his children, family and friends.
Michael’s heart and soul will forever be given to his two beautiful children Milo, 4 and Huxley, 2 by his family and loved ones. Michael, we promise to carry on your love of your children first, family second and friends too. And we promise you, we will hold tight your beautiful light for the rest of our lives. Your flame will never falter or fail, never diminish nor dull. We will hold it so high, keep it burning so bright and your memories alive. You enjoyed the simple things in life, like loving your family, good friends, and giving your heart and soul to your children. And most recently, your puppy Geoffrey, who kept you on your toes. With love in your heart, you disciplined him to help him grow into an amazing, beloved dog for all to enjoy in our freedom of playfulness.
Michael was as individual as they come, and lived a life defined by living to the beat of his own drum. He could come across hard, direct and dry, yet his smile and sarcasm still had the power to melt ice and water eyes. His sense of humor was one of a kind, dark and deep like the ocean, unknowing of what to find, but his amazing grin always found us.
Michael is survived by his children Milo and Huxley; mother Sandra Bussell; father Sean Bussell; siblings Logan, Mason, and Melyssa Bussell. As well as grandma Renee, grandpa Alan, Uncle Alan V., grandma Rose, grandpa Jim and Halli Rae.
A private remembrance gathering with family and close friends will be Friday, February 2, 2024 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society. There will be a public Celebration of Michael’s life in the spring for additional friends, coworkers, gamers, those new and old. The family will send out personalized notifications and heartfelt invitations once we are able to share our grief with everyone that held Michael dear.
This is a beautiful tribute to Michael. May you all be comforted in your pain and joyful in your beautiful memories.
Steve and I are praying for the family and trusting God is bringing you all comfort and peace.
We love you,
Mary and Steve Lawrence
Psalm 34:18
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Michael, my friend. You are missed. There is a quiet now that cannot be filled where we are. So in parting, I give a poem.
“In the End”
“You were part of the Sky, on loan to a Body.
A Part of the Sea that awoke to Thought.
A Part of the Earth Who Borrowed a Name.
The Essential Piece of You is the Love and Knowledge that you set in Motion while you Moved through the Waking world.
You are Nature, and Nature Wil Go On,
but there was a Kindness that only You could Choose to Bring to the World.”
We’ll meet again in time, my friend. Not today…but in time. Rest Well. You are missed.
Lovely tribute to a truly unique individual. We became very close friends, and I will remember our deep heart to heart talks and plans we each had for the future. I will remember the kindness and understanding we both needed and shared. He was genuine and true to his word. I wish I could make it all the way over there to share in this, but I will have to from a far. Much love to his family and friends and all he touched along the way. His light and exceptional dark humor and wit will live on through us in honor of his memory
When I moved to Kansas, Michael (age 12) excitedly said, “Now I get to spend the night at Uncle Alan’s house”! This was the beginning of many weekends with Michael along with his siblings Logan, Mason & Melyssa. Several fun-filled years of spending the night, watching movies, playing video games, and going to the neighborhood park. Some of the best memories ever and it all began with Michael.
I’m so thankful we took the time to meet someone who was so special. At first an online friend who then became family. Oh my heart hurts for this family. You will never be forgotten buddy.
