Nadine Bratcher

Nadine Bratcher was born on March 17, 1932, in La Cygne, Kansas, to Randolph and Alice Craig (Dunavan). She was the second of six children born to Randolph and Alice. Nadine’s happy childhood was spent growing up in La Cygne and Pleasanton. The family later moved to Kansas City where Nadine attended Northeast High School and William Chrisman.

As a young woman Nadine worked at Montgomery Ward, where she met Frank Bratcher. The two were married in 1950 and were blessed with two children, Mike and Susan.

When Mike and Susan were into their school years, Nadine went back to work. She began a job at Stadium Bank in the bookkeeping department and worked her way up to be named the first female vice president the bank had. She left the banking world after many years and opened a popcorn store at Crown Center with her sister and brother-in-law. They ran this store with many family members helping out until they sold it a few years later. Retirement years were spent with her beloved grandchildren, Aaron, Lisa, Lexie and Chase.

Nadine is preceded in death by Frank Bratcher, her parents, two brothers, Elton Craig and Charles Craig, and beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray, Dick, Jacki, Dorothy and Shirley.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lynne Bratcher, her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Chuck Lanphear, her four grandchildren who she thought the world of, Aaron Bratcher, Lisa Bratcher, Lexie Lanphear and Chase (Natalie) Lanphear, two sisters, Laura Saunders and Barbara (George) Thomas, one brother, Robert Craig, and many nieces and nephews who she thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with.

Nadine was a lovely lady of great style who will be dearly missed.
