Norman E Kurz

Norman Edward Kurz, 77 of Raytown, MO passed away at home in the early morning December 1, 2014.  Norman was born December 28, 1936 to Louie H & Mildred Mahan Kurz in Kansas City.  A 1954 graduate of Raytown High School, he earned his Engineering degree from Finlay Engineering College, and worked for Black & Veatch Engineers for 44 years, retiring in 2001. He married Jacqueline Reno on Valentine day in 1960, celebrating 54 years of marriage.  Memorial service will be held Monday, December 8 at 11 am at One Spirit United Methodist Church. Visitation from 10 – 11 am prior to the service.

 

Norman supported the Boy Scouts his entire life first as a young scout and later as Scout Master of Troop 254. He also an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.  He was a devout Christian, and long time member of Longview United Methodist Church. He is a member of One Spirit UMC and served in several capacities for both churches.  Norm had many diverse hobbies throughout his life as car hobbyist, bow hunter, camper, guitar & banjo player, square dancer, pinochle & bridge player, wood carver, Chiefs fan, Mizzou fan, and golfer. He was a kind and gentle man who had many friends.

 

Norman is survived by his wife: Jackie Kurz, children: Kathy Kurz, Mark Kurz and Chris Kurz. Granddaughters: Brittany Gibbs, Kaitlin Aylor, and Chloe Cox-Kurz. Sister: Mary Lou Goodall. Brother-in-law: Doug Reno and wife Karen Reno. Nieces & Nephews: Brenda Gordanier, Brian Goodall, David Reno, Mike Reno, and Diane Cahill as well as many friends
