Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Orville Eugene “Gene” Burgin passed away on December 9, 2021 after a month long fight in the ICU on a ventilator. The destruction of COVID extends far beyond what it does to those it takes from us.
We wish to thank all the nurse’s who took such care of not just are father, but our family. All you do is appreciated.
Gene was born December 2, 1940 in Chicago, IL and was raised in Wichita, KS. From there he started his family in Independence, Missouri. Gene worked for over 35 years in the dental industry. He started as a service technician and retired in 2010 as a salesmen.
Gene could be content sitting on the couch, watching TV or eating a good meal. Gene had a kind heart and his family was so important to him. And a quick wit. He enjoyed time with friends and family. His travels took him to Caribbean Islands, Washington DC, South Dakota, Arizona, New Mexico, and California to name a few. He was blessed with experiences like a cruise to Hawaii with a chopper ride over the volcano, watching a hurricane come inland on the east coast, and as a “spry young man” almost 70 ziplining through the cloud forest of Costa Rica. On good authority, he was also quite the square dancer.
Gene survived by: his wife, Judy; children, Jerri (Wally), Jodi (Heidi), Jay, Rhonda (Duane), Christopher, Malesa (Dustin), Chris (Tallese), Jace, Eric; 16 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter.
We are very sorry. Gene was a good friend and we spent several days traveling, eating, and sharing stories (some true) Rest In Peace, Gene.
I am so sorry for your loss. Gene was a good man and I enjoyed working with him for years at Goetze Dental. Family was so important to him and we shared many conversations about our families. Gene was above all Kind and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.
Bud and I spent many happy moments Square Dancing and traveling with Gene. He was a good friend and will be missed by many. Rest in Peace my Friend.
I am very sorry for your loss. I remember, before we were coworkers, he was the first competitor I met in the dental industry and he was so kind gracious. He always had a smile on his face. I worked with him for 10+ years at Goetze before his retirement. He was a great person and will be missed.
I worked with Gene at Goetze Dental and shared many laughs and experiences. He was my friend and I am very glad I knew him. What a sense of humor I remember. Also I remember his benevolence toward others. I had not seen Gene for sometime, but knowing he was around was a comfort. I will miss him. Sorry to all his family and friends.
Working with Gene at Goetze Dental was a blessing. Gene was a kind and caring man and I’ll always remember his smile. I wanted to extend my sympathies to the entire family for this loss.
My fondest memory of Gene was a trip to Oregon to attend a training program. Went with a stranger, came home with a new friend. Condolences to Gene’s family.
I worked with Gene at Goetze Dental. I got to know him quite well nearing his retirement. One of the kindest, friendliest, people I’ve known. Great smile. Clearly loved his family as he shared many stories about them- condolences to you! He will be missed!
I’m saddened by the loss of Gene.
I am so thankful for him. Back in the 80’s he took a chance on hiring 20 year old kid into the service department at Healthco/Krause Dental. I now have a career that has been going nearly 36 years. Thank you Gene. My condolences to his family and friends.
