Randal (Poppie) Ray King
71, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully Friday, January 9, 2026, in Kansas City, MO at Research Hospital. The celebration of life will be February 7, 2026 from 10 a.m. to noon at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society at 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. There will be time for anyone who would like to tell a personal story or memory of Randy.
Life and Legacy
Randy was born January 23, 1954, to Chester and Patricia (Rhine) King, in Kansas City, MO. As a young man, Randy served in the U.S. Navy until he was medically discharged. He worked in various areas of construction until his retirement. Randy then went on to pursue his secondary education in photography. Randy will be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing, John Wayne westerns, film noir murder mysteries, photography and his beautiful wood working. He will be remembered most of all for his love of his family and will be dearly missed by all.
Family
Randy is preceded in death by his father Chester, his mother Patricia, niece Emalee Anne, parents-in-law JB and Carol Anderson, and brother-in-law Arthur Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny (Anderson); daughters Misty Caswell (Don), Michelle King, Beth Leftwich (John); granddaughters Jordan Roberge, Randi King; great grandsons Julian and Kaiden; sisters Barbara King, and Lisa (Scott) Jennings; nephew Andrew Jennings; brothers-in-law John (Linda) Anderson and David (Becky) Anderson and families.

my heart is with you all during this hard time. poppie was and always has been an awesome guy. randi is my best friend and we could always count on him so say something goofy to make us laugh! he will be deeply missed.
