Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Raymond Eugene (Gene) Charlier departed this life on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, following a battle with cancer and declining health. His final days were spent under the care of the exceptional staff of the NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City. The family takes comfort that they were able to share time with Gene in his final earthly days and that he is no longer in pain.
Gene was born June 24, 1934 in Rosedale, Kansas to Armon and Lillie Charlier and resided in the greater Kansas City area for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Norman and John, and one grandson, Adam.
He is survived by his first wife, Patricia (Rum) Charlier [M. 12-26-53], and their three children, Debbie (Charlier) Morgan, Mickie Charlier, and Randy Charlier as well as his second wife, Raye Dean (Deal) Charlier [M. 1-22-82], four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Gene was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than being out on the lake, enjoying nature as he caught those crappie, and sharing his catch with others at the end of the day. He was a friend of “Bill” for 37 years. He loved people and always enjoyed talking with and encouraging others…or sharing a story or joke with them.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 14, at Liberty Christian Church, 427 E. Kansas St., Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NorthCare Hospice House (2800 Clay Edwards Dr, Kansas City, MO 64116-3220) or Liberty Christian Church (427 E. Kansas St, Liberty, MO 64068-1855). I’m truly grateful for having had Gene as a friend, he always showed me nothing but love and kindness. I enjoyed our time together. He is missed. To his family, sorry for your loss.
Gene always had a way of making you feel like not only was everything going to be OK, but that it already was OK and always had been. He will be missed, but he will always be remembered. He gave the gift of himself and his time. Those visits meant so much to Bob and I.
My Grandfather was one of a kind for sure! He was such a kind & gentle giant. Grandpa loved and I mean LOVED fishing. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling with friends and family. His love for his family made him a natural born protector who was often wise beyond his years. His stories were the best and I am blessed to have been able to experience them first hand! I miss you grandpa…
