Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Sammy Scott Magruder was born in Fayette, Missouri on February 9, 1929. He went home on March 17, 2021.
He graduated from Fayette High School where he was a proud member of the FFA along with other activities. He served honorably for 4 years in the Naval Reserves and 2 years in the US Army. Following his service, he trained and worked as an electronic assembler and worked as assemblyman and manager. He was proud of building the aviation systems used in many of our aircraft. Sammy was very much a problem solver and welcomed the opportunity to resolve any challenge with an inventive gadget. He married Nina Marigold Groves on July 6, 1958. They settled in Raytown, Missouri and raised four children. They shared their love for 63 years. He was proud of the family farm in Fayette and that it had been recognized as a Missouri Century Farm – being owned by a Magruder for over 100 years.
Sammy is survived by his dear wife – Nina Marigold. His children – Katherine Cary, Laura Magruder Dugan, Judith Magruder, and Michael Magruder. Grandchildren – Jennifer Cary, Milo Magruder, Lylah Rose Dugan, Lorelei Dugan, and Delaney McKenzie; niece, nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Hazel Magruder, and sister JoAnne McMillan.
Private services will be held at a later date. Please honor Sammy by getting vaccinated for COVID19, and safely hugging your loved ones. If desired, please donate your time and/or resources to your favorite charity in his honor.
