Sandra G. Richards, 74, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Holden Manor, Holden, MO, where she was under hospice care.
Sandy was born November 16, 1946 in Oak Ridge,TN, the daughter of Tim and Thelma Richards. She was a 1964 graduate of Central High School in Knoxville, TN. Sandy was a singer/musician/songwriter through the late 60s, 70s and 80s and was living in Nashville, TN when her health deteriorated and she came to Missouri to live near family. Though she had many more health concerns throughout the years, the “joy of the Lord” was truly her strength, and she never lost her fun, witty, tender spirit.
Survivors include a brother, Ron Richards and his wife Pat of Winter Springs, FL, a brother, Larry Richards, Blue Springs, MO, a sister, Donna Buzan and husband Tim of Blue Springs, MO, and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many friends, extended family, and her beloved dog, Sugar.
It was an honor to be Miss Sandy’s caregiver. I will always love and miss Miss Sandy! I will do my best to make sure that Sugar is loved and cared for the way Miss Sandy would do for Sugar! Fly high you will always be my butterfly! My prayers are with the family at this time and forever! Love Brandi Hall

Sandy was a vibrant, beautiful lady who never spoke negatively of anyone. She loved Jesus and lived life with dignity and zeal. It was an honor to know her and to call her family. Now she has it made.
The good Lord knows when it is our time to join Him in heaven. All we can do is be ready.
With her prayers and those of her friends and family. Sandy was ready. May she rest in peace.
The song has ended but the melody lingers on. My condolences to the family.
Sandy and I were high school together. I ironed her hair every night before she sang. Ann Murray, and several singers she was the warm up singer.I lost contact with her in 1984. If only a year a part.
