Sarah Anne “Sally” Luten Morse, 76, Clayton and Kansas City, MO died January 23, 2004 following a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Bishop Spencer Place. A memorial service will be hled 4 pm, February 14, 2004 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Webster Groves, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggestions contributions to Anne Augusta Morse Memorial Book Fund at Webster Groves Public Library. Sally was born to Dr. Drew and August Luten on February 20, 1927 in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from John Burroughs School in 1944 and Wellesley College in 1948. Sally later received her Masters in Religious Education from Eden Theological Seminary in 1973. Mrs. Morse was active in St. Louis community affairs, including chairing the John Anderson Presidental Primary campaign, forming the local chapter of the Episcopal Peace Foundation, supporting the Nuclear Freeze Movement, and servign as President of the St. Louis Wellesley College Club. For several years, she provided pastoral care to terminally ill patients and their families at Barnes Hospital. She was an avid reader, gardener, bird-watcher, and tennis player. She and her family were long-time parishioners and Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Webster Groves. Sally is remembered for her energy, strong convictions, intellectual curiosity and dedication to her husband and family. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard Ketcham Morse, Kansas City, MO; sons and daughters in law, Richard Ketcham, Jr. & Anne Morse, Mission Hills, KS, John Ashburn and Robie Morse, Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Sarah Greenlee Morse, Baltimore, MD and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne Augusta Morse in 1969.
