Sean Mykel Keith Elder

Sean Mykel Keith Elder left this world surrounded by his loving family and friends at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Sean was a great person. He loved his children dearly and the time he spent with them made him the happiest. He was rather accomplished at drawing, and it would make his children’s day when presented on of dad’s drawings. He liked to play video games and watch movies with them. He would always try to make people laugh and entertain them by doing back flips off walls and trees and just being silly and goofy.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Clarence E. Smith, La Berta D. Smith, Sharon Christian, and James Russell. Also, preceding Sean was a very dear and close friend Christopher Hayes.

Sean is survived by his son Sonnee Mykel and daughter Sasha Jade Elder; parents Gary D. Elder, Sr., St. Joseph, MO, Deborah L. Elder, Kansas City, KS, Shanna McMackin, McPherson, KS, and Larry Bringus, St. Joseph, MO; brothers Gary D. Elder, Jr., St. Joseph, MO, Nathan T. Elder, St. George, UT, and Damien A. Elder, St. Joseph, MO; sisters Kristy L. Elder, St. Joseph, MO, Nathalie K. Herrin, AR, Amber C. Elder, Houston, TX and Courtney A. Elder, St. Joseph, MO; uncle James Tatro; lifelong friend John Boy Johnson, St. Joseph, MO; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sean has been cremated under the direction of Heartland Cremation and Burial Society. There will be a Celebration of Life in the very near future.

So very sorry to learn of the passing of Sean. Sean was the first to make me an aunt. I remember walking into the house, and if Sean was asleep I would go in and somehow before I would leave the room he was always awake and needing to be held by aunt Tara.
Sean will always hold a special place in my heart.

I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. Sean was a great kid. I’ve known him for many years as he hung out with my kids. May he 🙏 forever.

Man this is so mind boggling. Sean is my cousin (blood) whom is younger than I.
I used to watch after him and his siblings Amber, Courtney, and Damien when they were very young. When Sean was a baby,, I was still young myself but I was holding him and I accidentally dropped him. One of my very worst memories and I remember a time he had meningitis and he had looked very lifeless, was a very scary time. I haven’t seen Sean and his siblings in a long time because they were adopted out of my family. Really breaks my heart to hear of the sad news but I know one thing for sure I bet his aunt Nancy, ” my mother” welcomed him with open arms gracefully in heaven. And Shanna I’m very sorry to hear a loss of your first child. I love you guys
