Sharon Fayetta Edmondson

A Life to be Celebrated

Mrs. Sharon Fayetta Edmondson was born August 22, 1948 in Emporia, Kansas, to her father Reverend John Henry Thompson Jr. a Pastor, and her mother Margaret Jessie Thompson (Walter) a seamstress. Sharon Edmondson is 1 out of 11 children. In her early life she was baptized into the Catholic Church at age 7. During high school she excelled in academics; participated in the Paseo High school Pep Club as the elected treasurer, Secretary of Y-teens, and served on the Student Council. Sharon was a kindhearted person, family-oriented, and loved children. Her hobbies were crocheting, and exercising. 

Sharon attended Paseo High School and graduated 1967. Upon graduation, she met her husband Clarence, and married in 1968. Clarence asked for her hand in marriage on their 1st Date! They remained married almost 50 yrs; and have three children Elgin, Evette, and Clarissa. She worked briefly at two jewelry companies until 1974. 

Furthermore, she began to work for the K.C.MO. School District. She started in 1985 as and, Noon Day Aid at Frances Willard Elementary School. Sharon, later in 1990 became a Paraprofessional at Harold Holliday Montessori School. Taught K-1st Grade for 16 yrs. and retired in 2006. Pres. of the PTA at Frances Willard 1975-1985; and Pres. at MLK Jr. High school for one year. Throughout her church life she participated at Second Baptist Church. Serving as a Deaconess, Vacation Bible School, Cub Scout Den Mother, Camp Fire Girls, Church Nursery, Church Sunday school Kindergarten Dept. Superintendent of the Youth Sunday School Dept.

She leaves to honor her life, her children Elgin Leonard Edmondson, Evette Lorraine Edmondson, and Clarissa Edmondson-Bridges. Her siblings: Yahya Abdul-Rahman (John H. Thompson III), Alvin Ramsey, Shelia Williams, Connie Williams, Alesia Lowery, Kim Anderson, Rahn Thompson, Antonio Thompson, Eric Davis, and Juan Thompson. 

Grandchildren: Elgin L. Edmondson II, DonDre Ramey, Cha’nya Bridges,  Quentin Bridges (Son-in-Law), Melvyn Thomas (brother-in-law), a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Mr. Clarence Edmondson Jr. and mother, Margaret J. Thompson (Walter), stepmother Mrs. Emma L. Thompson. Mrs. Adlena Thomas (Malone), James P. Thomas, and Mr. Clarence Edmondson Sr. her mother & father-in-laws.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, Missouri 64133 with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 P.M.
