Sidney “Doc” Allen Korn

Sidney Allen Korn, 79, commonly known as “Doc,” died February 17, 2023. He was born March 19, 1943 to Thomas and Mildred Korn. He attended Wyandotte High School, where he ran track, and then Kansas State University. He moved to Los Angeles and Cleveland and returned to Kansas City in the 1990s.

Doc was bright, witty and intellectually curious. He made his living as a handyman and painter, and he brought to his work and to life itself integrity and creative flair. He enjoyed good food, good conversation and good coffee. He was an often-entertaining raconteur and always an individual. His friends will miss his humor, his loyalty and his acute observations.

He leaves siblings Arthur, Patricia and Marsha, and sons Daniel and Jonathan.

A celebration of his life will be held on March 19, his 80th birthday, at 2 p.m. at Billie’s Grocery, 3216 Gillham Road.

I lived nextdoor to Doc for many years. He was a character and friend. I’m so sad to hear of his passing. He and I chatted daily when it was gardening weather. He had good stories. I’ll miss him.
