Steven Edward Babcock Sr.

Steven Edward Babcock Sr., 65, of Harrisburg Missouri, passed away on November 13th 2025, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Steve was born January 30, 1960,  the son of Charles “Chuck” and Ramona (Spencer) Babcock.  Steve grew up in Iowa with his three siblings Cindy, Charlie and Teresa.  Steve also spent part of his youth on the farm with Uncle Virgil Spencer in Missouri.  As an adult Steve returned to Missouri where he started his own floor covering business.

Steve had many hobbies all of which involved the outdoors.  He was a horse enthusiast, spending most of his free days with his horses. He enjoyed breeding, training and trail riding.  One of his most loved horses was a paint horse named Star, named for the large white star shape on her side.  Steve was also an avid rock hunter.  He was especially talented at spotting arrowheads and almost never come up empty handed. Deer season was Steve’s favorite time of year.  He wasn’t a trophy hunter, he enjoyed having deer camp with family and friends and harvesting a deer to fill the freezer.

As a big kid himself, Steve loved spending time with children.  He found a lot of enjoyment in being with his grandkids.  When he was sick he often said, “these kids give me a reason to keep pushing on”.  He especially loved to spoil kids with treats and a sip of his Pepsi.

Steve was one of a kind.  He will be profoundly missed by his family and those whose lives he touched.

Steve is survived by his children Summar Giorgione (Addie), Jeremiah Babcock (Hilary), Ashley Babcock, Lindsey Shumate and Steven Babcock Jr; grandchildren Xander, Aiden, Riley, Spencer, Ellianna, Silas and Lyndon; siblings Cindy Osborn (Rick), Charlie Babcock (Heather) and Teresa Hines (Mickey); as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Ramona.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
