Vicki Rachelle Hedberg

Vicki Rachelle Hedberg (Yarmark) – 66, of Lee’s Summit Missouri passed away peacefully in the home on October 22, 2021, with her husband, daughter, and stepdaughter by her side.

Vicki grew up in Raytown and attended Raytown South High School where she graduated in 1973. She then went on to Northwest Missouri State in Maryville where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.

She worked at Western Auto and Yellow Freight before taking a leap of faith to obtain her M.B.A. and start her own business, The Travel Source/Honeymoon Hideaways. Working in the industry allowed her to pursue her passion of traveling the world and exploring other cultures with family and friends. Along with traveling, she loved taking photographs, hiking, spending time with family and friends and going to the lake. She had a love for animals, especially dogs, and adopted four lucky rescue pups in her lifetime.

Vicki had a fun-loving spirit and was a member of many clubs and organizations that gave back to her community. She kept in touch with friends from high school, college, jobs, church and clubs and was a valued friend and confidante, often spearheading get togethers and outings.

Being a grandma brought Vicki so much joy and she loved spending time with her nine grandchildren. She always tried to do something special with each one on their birthdays and could often be found in the crowd or cheering on the sidelines of their various activities.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Yarmark.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dennis, her daughter Lauren, stepson Colby and his children Austin, Lukas, Jaxson, and Eliana, stepdaughter Nichelle (Dave) and their children Jadyn, Layla, Taylor, Kade and Ethan, her sister Tammy (Joe) and nephews Kyle and Ryan.

Visitation will be at 9:00 am on Wednesday, November 3, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church located at 4725 NE Lakewood Way in Lees Summit Mo 64064.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

What a beautiful obituary! It describes Vicki perfectly–her unending love for Dennis, Lauren, Nichelle, Colby, Tammy, Joe, her grandchildren, and her hundreds of friends. Vicki made each person she was around feel special. Vicki was the kindest, sweetest, most giving person I have ever known. She and Dennis were so creative–always coming up with new ways to have fun whether it was traveling in Missouri or on the other side of the world, entertaining family or friends, or enjoying their new home. There is a hole in my heart right now because I miss my dear friend so much, but I am blessed by the hundreds of memories of the wonderful times we had together. John and I send our love and sympathy to your whole family.

Dennis & Lauren, I am so blessed to be able to call Vicki my friend. She will continue to be an inspiration to me. Always the planner and organizer. I loved the outings. Shall I say stomping grapes at a winery. swimming with dolphins, movie club, and the annual croquet match. The list would be long if all her friends added to it. She lived a joyful life and shared that joy with everyone around her. I miss her.

I am so sorry to hear of Vicki’s passing. I don’t remember when I first met Vicki at church but anytime I saw her, she always had a big smile on her face and was so sweet.

We were friends in high school 1973 Raytown South High. She was a such a fun gal and so sweet. My deepest condolences to her family. I saw her a few years ago, and she was just the same gal as I remember in high school. Gone to soon. Rest in peace Vicki, heaven has gained a sweet Angel.

Vicki was such a sweet lady and a sweeter friend. If you were her friend she made time for you in visits and phone calls.. I will truly miss those times as well as game nights as couples..

She had a huge heart for all her family and often talked lovingly of them. I know she fought difficult and courageous battles against breast cancer and leukemia so that she could stay with the family she loved.

I am happy to know that the battles are over and she is in the arms of Jesus Christ with no more pain and suffering.

My prayers are with all the family as they grieve this great loss.

Vicki meant the world to me. She was my precious and beloved friend for over 35 years. She had all of the qualities of a true friend. I feel lost without her. I cherish my countless memories of her. I could always count on Vicki in the good times and the bad. Her impact on my life will never be forgotten.

I was a sorority sister to Vicki at NWMSU. She lived next door to me in Roberta Hall my sophomore year and was integral in my continuing on in my education after that year. She told me about adding the double major of Marketing with Office Administration and I decided that was for me. An early example of Vicki pouring into another person’s life. Although we lost touch after my husband and I left KC in 1995, we still followed each other on FB. My heart and prayers goes out to Dennis and Lauren and the rest of her family. Seeing the impact Vicki’s life had upon others I hope helps ease some of the pain.

Vicki, you were an answer to my prayers 16 years ago when you placed your help wanted ad for your Travel business. I feel so blessed to have had the privilege to work beside you each, and every day since then. From day one you made me feel your “Travel Baby” was just as much mine as it was yours. I thank you and appreciate the confidence and trust you always had in me. You made it so easy to get to know you and become your friend. We shared a lot of great times in the office together you never made my job feel like work. I have such great respect for you. I loved watching you plan your next adventure or how you were going to make a difference in someone else’s life, it always pushed me to do more. You did everything you set out to do. You even tried your hand at writing a book about one of your beloved fur babies. I would say you lived each day on your terms and your zest for life was unmistakable and your passion was evident in every aspect of your life. You loved well & it’s evident by all the people that loved you in return and it showed with all that you did for everyone. You always tried not to leave anybody behind. You shared a saying with me after my husband passed “When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure” We will cherish many happy memories of you that will help us all get through the tough days ahead. Thank you for all the ideas exchanged the conversation and laughter through it all. I will miss your humor every day. Thank you for being such an amazing friend. This day has come far too soon. To say you will be missed is an understatement. We are all so blessed to have such a beautiful angel looking over us. I pray for comfort and peace for ALL your family and for all who love you. Thank you for EVERYTHING. You will be missed, my friend.
