I’m sorry to hear of Wahneta’s passing. My parents (Chris & Carol Detje) thought alot of her & Howie. I remember her most for her warm smile & her pretty hats. God bless you all.

I have fond memories of both Howie and Wahneta. They were like another set of aunts and uncles, though they are not related by blood. Our families spent many summers together. We camped in their back yard and they camped in ours. We hosted some of their youth group trips to St. Louis and met them in New York for the NY World’s fair and missed them the following year at Disneyland. I can call up Wahneta’s voice anytime I wish. She will be missed terribly, though I haven’t seen her much in the last two decades. I just found out she had passed away from Howie’s Christmas letter.
    Marsha
