Wallace Keene

Wallace Vance Keene, 68, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Keene was born June 1, 1935, in Buffalo, Okla., and moved to Ottawa, Kan., in 1945, where he graduated high school. He entered the U.S. Army in 1954 and spent two years in the Far East. He graduated from Pittsburg State College in 1960. He worked for the Missouri Department of Education as a vocational rehabilitation counselor from 1965 until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, where he served as deacon. He also served on the Board of Directors for Children’s International for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Warren.

His survivors include his wife, Nancy, Blue Springs; sons, Craig, Kansas City, and Eric, Washington, D.C.; a brother, Richard, Bella Vista, Ark.; and two sisters, Jeanne Collier, Turlock, Calif., and Dorothy Reams, Dunbury, Conn.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests contributions to Crossroads Hospice and/or Cancer Action Inc., Kansas City, Kan.
