Zella Pauline Ferguson, 93, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away September 23, 2023, at Homestead of Lenexa. She was born on August 10, 1930, in Riverdale, Maryland. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Woodson Avenue Bible Church, 6701 Woodson, Overland Park, Kansas.
Zella was a member of Woodson Avenue Bible Church where she was active in Missions, Children’s Church, and Choir. She crocheted hundreds of hats, slippers, and blankets for the Navajo Indians in Flagstaff, Arizona.
She attended Bob Jones University for two years and a Teachers College for one year. She got a job teaching at a country school. It had a hot lunch program and she and another teacher took turns cooking. They started the old stove using corn cobs.
Zella worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri, for 21 years until her retirement in December, 1990. She worked as a Tax Examiner.
Zella was loved by all who knew her. She loved Jesus and lived in faithful service to Him. Those who knew her best say she was patient, kind, humble, and happy.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie and Janet Ferguson, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, daughter Pamela Ferguson Rall, and son Greg Ferguson.
