Gregory Paul (Greg) Metoyer

Gregory Paul (Greg) Metoyer passed away peacefully at the University of Kansas Medical Center on Monday evening, February 12, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Greg was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. He loved to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs, the Royals, and the Kansas Jayhawks. Greg’s biggest love was for his children and grandchildren.

He had two sons and two stepdaughters, whom he loved dearly. Michael Metoyer and his wife Lindsay, along with granddaughter Marley and grandson Mason, all of Ridley Park, Pa. Jeffery Metoyer and his son Darol of Geff, Illinois. Debbie Fernandez and her children, Zach and Kaitlyn. Angela Fernandez Reuscher, her husband Ryan Mark Reuscher, and their children Sara, Steven, Ryan, and Riah. Greg’s eyes would light up and be filled with pride when he spoke of his grandchildren.

Greg was the son of Louis and Octavia Metoyer. Being one of 13 children, he learned the value of family and passed that on to his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Octavia, along with brothers Louis Jr., Larry, Terry, and Donald, and his sisters Grace, Bridgette, Babette, and Gina. He is survived by his sons, Michael and Jeffery, and his former wife and lifelong friend, Sharn Metoyer. He also leaves brothers John Metoyer with wife Ann of Kansas City, Marty Metoyer with wife Angela of Smithville, Mo., along with sisters Rosalie Wahlen of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Carolyn Hamilton of Mountaintop, Pa.

Greg was dearly loved by those who knew him, and he will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the education fund for Greg’s grandchildren. https://gofund.me/38d2c37d

My best memory of Greg. Is when he would come over to my parents house in Lee’s Summit. And hang with me, my brother Eddie and sister Annette. We had so much fun! Watching wrestling, then Greg would be the referee and my siblings, me would wrestler. I think that’s were I got the love of WWE! Then we would play card games, board games. So much fun! He made us feel special. Going to miss my kindest, loving cousin Greg. Going to miss his “Good Morning” post on Facebook. Rest in Peace Greg ❤️.
