Sandra Jean “Sandi” Temple (Volkman)

Sandra Jean “Sandi” Temple (Volkman), 78, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024.

Sandi was born on September 16, 1945, in Clayton, Missouri. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Melisa Temple Young and Shelley Temple Kneuvean, and a cherished grandmother and great grandmother to her six grandchildren Jenny Pulse (Jeremy), Andy Temple (Cora), Katie Poke (Travis), and Austin Temple; Alex Kneuvean (Makayla) and Anna Kneuvean. She was blessed by eleven great grandchildren including Josie and Jordan Pulse; Jayden, Harlie, and River Temple and Hailey Eckiler; Ayana, Raylee, Analise, and TJ Poke; and Glenn Kneuvean. As a small child, she went by the name Jeanie and is survived by her brother Larry Volkman and niece Bobbi Cordova. She is preceded in death by her mother Marjorie Volkman, father Charles Volkman, and sister Clara Ann Clark. She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband and father of her girls, John Temple.

Sandi graduated from Warrensburg, Missouri High School and attended classes at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. She spent her entire adult life in Independence, Missouri. Throughout her life, she held various positions, including executive assistant at Healthco for many years and later as a caregiver for the elderly with several agencies. She never knew a stranger and would strike up conversations with all that crossed her path.

A long-time member of Eastgate Christian Church, Sandi was a woman of strong faith. She found joy in serving as a Stephen Minister for her congregation. She loved tending to her flower gardens but most of all, she loved caring for her beloved dogs, Gracie and Buddy.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at Eastgate Christian Church, 4010 S. River Boulevard, Independence, Missouri 64055, on Sunday, June 23, 2024. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support any dog adoption or rescue efforts in honor of Sandi’s love for her furry companions.
