Frank Edward Lee Sample

Frank Edward Lee Sample, age 57 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away May 14, 2024 in Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial services will be held 6:30 PM, Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at Frank’s home.

Mr. Frank Edward Lee Sample was born January 7, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Frank enjoyed the home he purchased many years ago, maintaining a large, park-like yard he shared with his friends around the huge firepit. It was a tranquil environment where he spent his last years. He loved his dog, Leo, and the two kittens he found on his property and nursed them back to healthy, mean, and ornery cats that loved him and few others. Frank was a kidney transplant survivor for just short of 10 years. A bit of a hermit, Frank generally stayed to himself unless someone called upon him for help, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. Frank wasn’t much of a drinker but he did enjoy his friends at The Flamingo Lounge when it was in Raytown, and the pork chops from RC’s. Frank loved his Eliminator motorcycle and I hope he is flying down the streets somewhere at 160 mph.

Frank was preceded in death by: his parents, Raymond Lee Sample, Sr. and Marietta Jane Sample (Edie); and his beloved dog, Leo. Frank is survived by: his older brothers, Al Sample and Ray Sample Jr.; his much older sister, Diana Sumrall (for Frank!!) and his stepparents, Argreta Sample and Al Anglin; his cousins, Elaine Hand and Henry Edie; nephews, Joe and Jerry (Boogie) Harkness, and several step siblings.

He relied upon a few folks at the end and I’m sure he would like a special note of appreciation for Ed Fleming, he was there for Frank. And, of course, the survivor cats he saved, Sylvester (Vester) and Simba.
